He was born in Swindon, the UK on April 19, 1991. Kumra has Indian ancestry but he was born and raised in the United Kingdom by a very loving family. His interest in music started when he learned to play the guitar when he was just 12 years old. He also learned how to sing on his own. He then proceeded to study at The Academy of Music and Sound in his hometown. The whole of Swindon is proud that Josh Kumra hails from their hometown and rejoiced when Josh topped the iTunes singles chart on 2011. He now lives in London to pursue his career in music.
Josh Kumra can be seen performing with performers such as Wretch 32 and K Kobe. His musical connection with the rapper Wretch 32 started when Josh wrote and sang “Don’t Go” with Wretch 32 and together they ruled the UK singles charts. Josh considers this as his career breakthrough which led him to perform on different platforms and music festivals. This brought more people to appreciate his music and propelled him to popularity. He eventually signed with Sony Records and released his own solo single entitled “Helicopters & Planes” in 2012. It was followed by his debut album “Good Things Come To Those Who Don’t Wait” which contained 17 tracks and the hit singles “Waiting For You” and “The Answer”. He also released videos of songs from this album. Most of them are love songs. Josh says that he wrote this album based on his life journey and observations about other people’s experiences. Josh has gone on tour and supported fellow artists in their shows. His musical influences are Tracy Chapman, The Rolling Stones, and Jimi Hendrix.
